"Lions Are Helping Me Be Productive Past My Retirement Years"
"I've been a truck driver most of my life," said Pete, 64 years of age, "but after some driving incidents, I was informed that I needed to get some vision correction or I'd be out of my job permanently.
Thanks to the Lions Patient Care Program, Pete has had cataract surgery and is on the road to seeing clearly again. "I'm simply amazed. Everything in this eye is crystal clear and totally in focus thanks to the generosity of the Lions and the Foundation."
Pete explained that he tried glasses. His sister in California had tried to help Pete out. She spent nearly $1,500 on an eye exam and 3 pairs of glasses. "There was no mention of cataracts at the time," said Pete. When the glasses did not accomplish the goal of improving his eye sight, Pete went to another vision provider and discovered that he was losing his peripheral vision. Pete turned to the Lions.
"Now I can work until I am 75," eagerly remarked Pete. "This program has given me my eyesight back and I get to be a productive person again."
Pete spoke before the Lions gathered for District O Convention, "This is a terrific program. There is no way I could have afforded to have this done. Thank you so much."
Requests for Patient Care services continues to exceed the dollars available. With a 111% increase over applications of the prior year, the Patient Care Program continues to need your ongoing support for this vital service. If your club can give extra this year, this program could definitely use your support.
